CDG and KMUTNB team up to launch the “CDG Code Their Dreams: Public Training” project to develop quality personnel to meet digital world’s needs.

CDG code Their dreams, CDG Group’s CSR project, joined hands with the Department of Computer Education, Faculty of Technical Education, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, in launching the “Computer Programming for Education” program under the “Public Training” project to support future labour markets. As coding skill is no. 3 in the list of top 10 future world’s skills needed domestically and globally, the program is aimed at educating students and teachers on how to use the coding skill for their survival and success in the digital world. The program focuses on computer language learning development and digital preparedness for further studies and teachings and enables learners to apply the knowledge gained to their real-life professional roles. “CDG CDG Code Their Dreams: Public Training” project already kicked off through 4 different activities with the goal to develop more than 1,000 coders by the end of 2020 as part of the effort to drive Thailand’s education sector to thrive in today’s digital battlefield.

Mr. Nart Liucharoen, Chief Executive Officer of CDG Group, disclosed that today’s global trends that are worth watching and will have impact on national and international future labour markets are stemmed from the growing importance of High-Speed Internet, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Cloud technologies. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s report, it is expected that by 2022, on average, 58% of labour hours will be carried out by humans and 42% by machines and algorithms. These figures indicate that employers are expecting to expand their workforce by employing workers who will have new, specific skills to deal with creating innovations and applying technologies. The coding skill is among the top 10 skills mostly needed at national and global levels.

“The said trends clearly signal the importance of future professional skills which are in the highest demand in the labour market. CDG Group thus announced its collaboration with the Department of Computer Education, Faculty of Technical Education, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, to conduct the “Computer Programming for Education” program under the “Public Training” program to support coding workers in future labour markets. Student and teachers will be educated on coding techniques. The program focuses on computer language learning development and digital preparedness for further studies and teaching and enables learners to apply the knowledge gained to their real-life professional roles,” said Mr. Nart.

The “Public Training” project started with the “In-House Pubic Training” pilot program through the 4 activities aimed at training students in secondary education levels 1-6 as well as teachers. The activities come in a number of training courses. For example, “Scratch Program Training” offers basic knowledge about the Scratch app for teachers to prepare teaching plans and students to create games. “Mbot Learn & Run – Mun & Fin” enables participants to know “Mbot” robot benefits. “Sticker@Line” teaches learners how to create their own Line stickers. “Thunkable” demonstrates how to create simple apps on mobile phones. “IoT Smart Building” shows how to control the functioning of things online. All the activities are open for registration. Interested persons may visit the website  www.codetheirdreams.com for further details and inquiries.

Mr. Nart added that the said project is intended for introducing basic knowledge about coding. The project can be said to have contributed to Thailand’s advancement towards innovation, education development and technological readiness. Mr. Nart viewed that successful businesses, applications or social media platforms currently in place were all created through coding. The project already kicked off with the goal to develop more than 1,000 coders by the end of 2020.

In closing, Mr. Nart mentioned that “CDG Group inspires Thai youth, teachers, parents and the general public to realize the need to get ready for embracing the digital era. The group wishes to inspire the young generations to see the importance of and strive to learn more about computer programing or coding, and to motivate teachers, parents and those living close to the children to help support them for this skill development. The group encourages the young people to develop their computer programming skill and continue practicing such skill with the support from their teachers and parents. The group is delighted to be part of the collaborative effort to drive the Thai youth forward in keeping up with the trends and needs of the labour markets for their survival and success in the digital world.”
